It seems like my whole summer is wrapped up in moving this year. Although I will still be teaching in Crossett, I am moving anyway...into a house! I'm excited! I found a decent rent house that is cheap and not far from school. Daddy and I are going down there next week (29th) to get me moved out of the apartment before the 1st of the month. Mom can't go because her boss is taking off work that week....convenient. haha Just kidding, I know she would be there if she could!
It is crazy trying to think of all the stuff I'll need living in a house. I'm getting a new roommate as well. Our other Art Teacher who is new...freshly graduated from college. She is really laid back and it seems like we'll get along. We are having to get all the major appliances, which amazes me how much they cost....we are going down the well loved route instead of new. :) The only living room furniture I have is a table and chairs, futon and computer desk so I had to look for something there. I went to an estate auction on Saturday and bought a sleeper sofa for $25!!! I was so excited. It is in great shape too, I can't believe it! Apparently I was the only one who wanted a couch that day! Now all I need is a slipcover to hide it. LOL
I am also going to take my lab, Chewy, with me as well. I had no idea setting up a house for a dog would be so expensive! The deposit was great, it was only $25! But I have to get all kinds of things to keep her contained and occupied since she won't have another dog to play with when I'm at work. I'm contemplating a crate inside instead of a pen outside....any thoughts from anyone on that? Leslie made a good point about not penning her up...I might be tempted to leave her home alone too long if she is outside. If she is inside I would have to make sure to get home and let her out. Now that I think about it I may go get a crate now and put it outside for her to investigate and get used to it being around...then maybe the transition won't be so bad!
I am really excited about my new place because I made sure to get a three bedroom house. With both of us being 'Artists' I wanted a place where we can create. One of the bedrooms has 8 windows, which automatically made me think 'Studio!' My roommate agreed, natural light is the perfect place for a studio. Now I won't have to feel bad about getting out a bunch of stuff and leaving it out while I work on a piece. I'll have a designated space for creating! How exciting!
There will be pictures as soon as we get set up with internet and all that. I'm going to start calling and getting all of that turned on early next week so the transition will be smooth.
